When Google launched its referral buttons, more Problogger.net Darren raised a very interesting question. There was speculation about whether Google's Firefox, has launched a number of affiliate products for publishers that Google intends to deploy.

Now that the buttons have been around for a while, I must say that I would be very surprised if Google decided to try again.

I am not aware of anyone making money of them seriously. Ad units are very good. The units can be linked quite well. Ads are not well illustrated. And referral buttons could buy someone a cup of coffee once a month ... when they have an audience that has never heard of Firefox.

The real problem with the referral buttons offered us was that just were not very competitive. There are a number of different affiliate programs that can be registered online and payment terms that Google has offered only punish what was there - one dollar a download? Hundreds of dollars when you registered to someone AdSense a broken world? Probably will do better by sending people to a dating site or pushing books on Amazon.

The buttons do not make any damage. I do not think that anyone really expected to do much good either.

The fact that we have not seen any of these programs also indicate that Google has taken the message that affiliate programs are not just your strengths. In fact, I do not think AdSense has produced nothing that beats the base unit ad. Murderer is an idea ... no one fought for the moment. We had a few false starts when companies have shown some attractive products again, but the bottom line is that it is always good old ad unit AdSense is making these fat checks in.

This does not mean Google should not be looking for new ways to make us all a little richer. But they must be original, if they go to work and do something nobody else did.

Or they can focus solely on the deployment of new formats and smart pricing adjustment so my prices are rising. I would be happier if only he did so as members offer more buttons.
